Somali Regional State Medical Oxygen Production and Distribution Center inaugurated

The center was inaugurated in Jijiga town by Somali Regional State Chief Mustafa Mohamed, Deputy Chief Ibrahim Osman and Head of Health Bureau Dr. Yusuf Mohamed.

It will alleviate the shortage of medical oxygen in the region and reduce the distance and cost of 622 km to Addis Ababa.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief of the State, Mustafa, said the launch of the medical oxygen will alleviate the shortage of respiratory oxygen, especially in patients with Covide 19, and other related heart disease patients.

Dr. Yusuf Mohammed, Head of the Regional Health Bureau, on his part said the new oxygen production center will be able to produce up to 200 cylinders per day and will meet the region’s oxygen demand.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by the Vice President, Regional and Zonal Health Bureau officials and various government officials.

It is also stated that this is the first medical oxygen production and distribution center in eastern Ethiopia.
