Finfinnee City District Court Inaugurated

The Finfinnee city district court was established in accordance with the proclamation to restructure the jurisdiction and mandate of the Oromia regional court.

The president of the high court of Oromia Special Zone Surrounding Finfinne, Kumela Busa said the district court is officially open for service. Kumela said, “Based on the fact that Finfinne is a seat of the Oromia Regional Government and Oromia Supreme Court, this district will see court cases related to criminal cases as well as civil cases.” He also said that Ethnic Oromos who live in the city will be able to exercise their constitutional rights accessing justice and getting tried in their mother tongue.

“This court will help Oromo residents of Finfinee save the money and time they have been wasting to access justice in their own language in district courts found in Oromia Special Zone Surrounding Finfinne” Kumela said.

The inaugural ceremony was attended by the administration of Oromia Supreme Court, Oromia Attorney General and Oromia Prison administration commission. Officials of the highest judicial institutions of the region said that the opening of this court ensures the constitutional rights of Oromo people and answers the long standing demands of the Oromo people for good governance.
