Profile of Kifle Horo – the new Project Manager of Ethiopia’s mega dam – GERD

Engineer Kifle Horo is the Project Manager of Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam since October 03, 2018. By overcoming that all complex challenges, this engineer made the aim to be true. Eng. Kifle Horo appointed as the new Project Manager of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD), Africa’s largest gravity dam located located approximately 500 km north west of the capital Addis Ababa, in the region of Benishangul-Gumaz along the Blue Nile.

Since the death of Eng. Simegnew Bekele, the late Project Manager of GERD, in late July 2018, Eng. Efrem Weldekidan led the construction of GERD serving as interim manager of the project. Eng. Simegnew Bekele has been project manager/lead engineer of GERD since the construction began in April 2011.

Eng. Efrem Weldekidan and Fekadu Kebede will serve as deputy project managers.

Eng. Kifle Horo aslo served at the Ethiopian Electric Power, as power sector consultant and advisory for project management, according to the Ethiopian Electric Power. He has more than 30+ years of experience in the field as his profile shows.
