Uganda, Ethiopia to hold discussions on Regional Peace & Security

Ethiopian and Ugandan officials to hold discussions in a bid to step up cooperation in regional peace and security, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA).

The ministry said this following the arrival of a high-level Ugandan government delegation including deputy Foreign Affairs Henry Okello Oryem, in Addis Ababa for an official visit on Sunday.

Commander-in-Chief of Uganda’s Ground Forces and President Yoweri Museveni’s Senior Advisor on Special Operations, Lt. Gen. Muhoozi Kianerugaba, and other senior security and military officials are also among the visiting delegates.

The delegates were accorded a warm welcome by Temeseng Tiruneh, Director General of National Intelligence and Security Service (NISS), upon their arrival at Addis Ababa Bole International Airport.

During its stay in the capital, the Ugandan delegation is expected to hold discussions with its Ethiopian counterpart to help strengthen the cooperation between the two nations, as per MoFA’s statement.

The discussions aim “to ensure peace and security in East Africa and to prevent terrorism,” the statement says.
