President Macron says he will visit Morocco in October

After wrapping up a visit made to Algiers, where no major investment agreement was reached, Macron, the French President, announced that he will visit Morocco in October.

Macron made the statement to a group at Touquet Beach Music Festival.

Macron last visited Morocco in November 2018 to inaugurate Africa’s highest speed train together with King Mohammed VI.

France remains the first investor in Morocco with French automotive giant such as Renault and PSA – part of Stellantis- operating major plants in Tangier and Kenitra.

But France has been unseated over the last few years by Spain as Morocco’s first trading partner.

Morocco expects France to take a more assertive stance in support of its sovereignty over Sahara, as it did with the US and Spain.
