Developers Showcase Products as Addis Hosts Real Estate & Home Expo
Dozens of developers along with construction input suppliers showcased their products and services at the annual Ethiopian Real Estate and Home Expo in Addis Ababa.
The two-day-long expo served as a one-stop destination for housing, furnishing, and finishing products and services demand by bringing major real estate developers operating in the country under one roof inside the Ethiopian Skylight Hotel.
The event gave an opportunity to real estate developers and mortgage banks to offer their products and services to potential home buyers, says the organizer 251 Communications and Marketing Plc.
Such types of expos are very helpful to ensure competition in the housing and construction sectors, said Lensa Mekonnen, CEO of the Land Bank and Development Corporation speaking at the opening on Saturday.
Lensa further stated that the housing sector is one of the priority sectors of the government.
“Our nation needs more than 7 million housing in the next 10 years, this demand is especially high in our cities,” she said. “The work to address this demand also needs to be done to standardize the quality of housing in order in modernizing our cities.”
The CEO also urged the developers that are concentrated in Addis Ababa to extend their services to other towns and cities of the country.
Many Addis Ababa residents visited the expo that brought in more than 30 developers with construction projects in and around the city.
“The expo was organized in consideration of the ever-growing demand for home ownership as a result of the overall economic progress of the nation as well as in light of the role the private sector could play in narrowing the gap between demand and supply,” said Blen Mekonnen, COO of the organizing firm.
The 251 Communications and Marketing hosted Ethiopian Real Estate and Home Expo for the last five consecutive years in Addis Ababa.
