Researcher Job in Plant Biology/Microbiology/Computational Biology at The University of Hohenheim in Germany; About University of Hohenheim: University in Stuttgart, Germany, the University of Hohenheim is a campus university located in the south of Stuttgart, Germany. Founded in 1818, it is Stuttgart’s oldest university. Its primary areas of specialisation had traditionally been agricultural and natural sciences.

We are searching for an enthusiastic scientist to engage in a new project studying relationships between leaf surface structures and the colonization of leaves by microorganisms. We are looking for someone with bioinformatic skills and/or biochemical lab experience. The position is currently available for one year (extensions may be possible). Starting dates can be individually defined at any month after 01.10.2024.

Specifically, the project has a bioinformatic component of reconstructing microbial community networks based on species richness and abundance across an age time course. Experimentally we would like to optimize proteomics methods, particularly protein extraction procedures for non-model plant species. Methods involved in the project: Network reconstruction based on “omics” data profiles and species identification data.

Regarding wet lab, the project will involve protein biochemistry and optimization of methods to non-model plants. Applicants are expected to bring expertise in any of above methodologies, the precise research focus within the position can be designed according to the applicant’s background.

Required Qualifications: Candidates should be highly motivated to work in an international team and have substantial expertise either in data interpretation of species sequencing data and/or wet lab experience in biochemistry, molecular biology. Basic skills in computational biology are of advantage, as well as basic knowledge of R and/or Python. Communication language in the lab and in group seminars will be in English. Please attach the following documents to your application:

Application: Please send your application including letter of motivation in which requested scientific background is stated, curriculum vitae, publication list and transcripts of degrees to Prof. Dr. Waltraud Schulze, [email protected] .The University of Hohenheim accepts applications via a secure internet site. To the application  Application deadline : 09.09.2024
