Security Ready for Peaceful Elections Says Commissioner General Demelash Gebremichael

According to a report by the Ethiopian Broadcasting Corporation (EBC), Ethiopian Federal Police Commissioner General Demelash Gebremichael has confirmed that security is fully prepared to ensure peaceful elections. Speaking at a National Security Conference reviewing national, regional, and international security conditions, he emphasized that reliable peace and security are essential for conducting elections without disruption. Current assessments show no identified threats to the 7th General Election. The voter registration process and distribution of election materials to polling stations are proceeding without security challenges, and the Joint Security and Safety Task Force is providing appropriate protection for election officials and competing parties. Commissioner General Demelash also noted that building strong, neutral security institutions has been a key pillar of government reforms. These efforts have enhanced the Federal Police’s manpower, modern technology, and organizational structure, enabling them to solidify national peace and security, carry out major national missions, and serve as a source of reliability for both Ethiopia and neighboring countries (Source: EBC).
