Dambi Dollo University, University of Cantabria Launch Strategic Academic Partnership in Spain
ADDIS ABABA, ETHIOPIA– Dambi Dollo University (DaDU) has officially launched the implementation phase of its strategic academic partnership with the University of Cantabria in Spain, marking a significant milestone in the Ethiopian university’s internationalization efforts.
The inaugural implementation meeting was held in Santander at the Office of the Vice President (Rector) of the University of Cantabria following the recent signing of a bilateral cooperation agreement. Dambi Dollo University was represented by its President, Dr. Taddese Regassa, and Vice President Dr. Reda Nemo, who held high-level discussions with senior officials from the University of Cantabria on strengthening academic cooperation and expanding opportunities for students and faculty.
According to Dambi Dollo University, the two universities finalized several priority areas that will guide their long-term collaboration. These include academic experience sharing, student and staff mobility programs, professional training, and joint scientific research projects. The initiatives are expected to facilitate the exchange of knowledge, expertise, and institutional best practices while creating new opportunities for researchers, lecturers, and students from both universities.
The agreement also aims to promote collaborative research capable of addressing global and regional challenges, while enhancing innovation and improving the quality of teaching and learning. University officials said the partnership is designed to build sustainable academic networks that will benefit both institutions over the long term.
The implementation meeting builds on an already growing relationship between the two universities through the Erasmus+ KA171 International Credit Mobility Programme. Earlier this month, the Ethiopian delegation visited several University of Cantabria facilities as part of the Erasmus+ mobility program. The delegation met with officials from the university’s International Relations Office, toured the university library, and visited research facilities, including the GITECO research group, while holding discussions with academic staff to identify future areas of cooperation.
