Ethiopia: Three regular police officers and six special police officers killed by unknown forces attack in Sheko Woreda, Bench Sheko Zone, Aybera and Sanka Kebeles
Bench Sheko Zone Peace and Security Department expressed its condolences to the families and friends of those who lost their lives in the attack on security forces in Aybera and Sanka Kebele of Sheko Woreda of Bench Sheko Zone.
Chief of the Bench Sheko Zone Peace and Security Department, Commander Dawit Timothios, gave a press statement on the security situation in Aybera and Sanka Kebele of Sheko Woreda on May 17, 2021.
Commander Dawit Timothios conveyed his condolences to the families and friends of those who lost their lives in the initial security crisis and noted that in collaboration with the community and peace ambassadors of Sheko woreda, it has been able to ensure relative peace in the woreda with the exception of the kebele where the incident took place. He said that the attack dose not represent anyone and was carried out by anti-peace forces while the security forces were mobilizing the community to work for peace in Aybera, Sanka and Bergi kebeles.
Commander Dawit also said that three regular police officers and six special police officers were killed and three others were injured in the attack adding that the security forces are still working to ensure the rule of law without being deterred by such act.
He further in the presser said that the anti-peace force is active within the civilian population and therefore indicated that they are working to mobilize the public isolate and to take action against the insurgents and thereby called up on the people to condemn the action stand along with the security force to subdue anti-peace forces than ever.
