OBN launches new children’s channel "Gaammee"
Oromia Broadcasting Network (OBN) has launched a new children’s channel called "Gaammee".
Oromia Regional State President, Shimeles Abdissa, who inaugurated the channel, said: The "Gaammee" children’s channel is designed to help adolescents grow up in their culture and indigenous knowledges.
He said the channel will make a significant contribution to the development of the country’s culture, history and identity.
He said the staff of the institute has worked day and night to reach the current level of OBN, which is now the leading media in 17 languages and the language of the masses.
OBN Board Chairman Addisu Arega, on his part said OBN has reached a third channel today starting from one channel.
OBN Director Zinabu Asrat announced that the Gaammee channel has two state-of-the-art studios.
According to Zinabu, OBN is currently broadcasting in 14 local and three foreign languages. In this way, he said, it has proved that it is the voice of the nationalities and the voiceless, and will soon be broadcast in Chinese and French.
He said the role of the regional government and change leaders is significant for the current stage.
On the other hand, Ethiopian News Agency and Oromia Broadcasting Network signed a memorandum of understanding to work together today.
It was noted that the signing of the MoU between the two institutions will enable them to work together by sharing their experiences.
The memorandum of understanding was signed by Seife Derbe, CEO of Ethiopian News Agency, and Zinabu Asrat, Director of Oromia Broadcasting Network, ENA reported.
