Ethiopia: #AddisAbeba City Admin Cabinet provides 100 million birr for drought victims in #Oromia & #Somali states

The Addis Ababa City Administration Cabinet has approved decision to provide a total of 100 million birr for the rehabilitation of people affected by natural disasters mainly ongoing drought due to lack of rain in Oromia and Somali regional states.

The Addis Abeba City Admin Cabinet’s decision to grant a support 50 million birr worth of assistance in kind to each regional state is aimed at mitigating the effect of the ongoing drought, the City’s Press office said yesterday.

Oromia region reported drought and the death of thousands of cattle mainly in the Borana zone, where people in several woredas are suffered from severe food shortages as a result of the drought and loss of cattle.

Similarly, the current drought hit the Somali Region and affected different woredas in the hardest hit Dawa zone, leading to the death of thousands of cattle and the displacement and resultant humanitarian crisis among civilians.
