The fate of Safaricom Ethiopia in Oromia Region
Safaricom PLC is a listed Kenyan mobile network operator headquartered at Safaricom House in Nairobi, Kenya. It is the largest telecommunications provider in Kenya, and one of the most profitable companies in the East and Central Africa region.
Currently Safaricom Ethiopia started staffing in Ethiopia and announced to start operation in this August 2022. Many experts and excluded applicants of the Safaricom Ethiopia are complaining the human resource selection of the Company which Oromophobic while trying to Operate in Oromia region by unrepresentative individuals who don’t know the language and culture of Oromo.
Most of the experts and users from Oromia Region were waiting for the operation of Safaricom Ethiopia in the Country.
Unfortunately, Oromo telecom users and experts are complaining that the HR of the Safaricom Ethiopia is excluding the individuals and businesses who applied to work with/for Safaricom Ethiopia following their Oromo ethnic group name.
According to Abdisa Bancha the well known ICT expert and the representative Google Croudsource of Ethiopian languages, many applicants of Safaricom Ethiopia from Oromo ethnic were complaining for exclusion from the selection of human resource.
