An explosion at nitrogen unit of well A55 in the Entissar field of the Zueitina Oil Company caused Thursday the death of a worker and injuries to another, Libya’s state-run National Oil Corporation (NOC) announced, Libya Observer reports.
According to the NOC, the casualty was a worker of the Al-Nisr Company. This company is currently working on the Zueitina Company’s A55 well. According to the company, the injured worker was transported to the hospital and was in stable condition.
Although it is not known what caused the explosion to occur, Farhat Bengdara (NOC Chairman) has reportedly established a committee that will independently investigate the cause of the explosion and take all safety precautions. The Intisar oilfield is south west of Benghazi and is controlled by Zueitina Oil Company, which is owned by NOC.
