Terror attack in Burkina Faso on mining company leaves six killed – The North Africa Post

Six people were killed when a convoy belonging in part to a mining company was attacked in Burkina Faso. The attack took place in Boungou, an East African country.
According to the army, five convoys of vehicles belonging to the mining company were attacked by unidentified armed men in the early hours of Thursday, August 26 at the Nadiabonli level, either from the region or the site.

“These vehicles, five in number, had left the mine site with other recovery vehicles to assist a supply convoy, several of whose vehicles had been stuck in the mud for several days. The five vehicles remained behind the convoy after the recovery was completed. They were not protected by the military unit providing the escort. These circumstances unfortunately favored the attack against this isolated element of the convoy,” the statement said.

This is the second attack on the company. The victim has not been identified. Lefaso.net reports on a similar attack that occurred in November 2019. At least 30 people were also killed.
Burkina Faso has been suffering from terrorism for many years. Multiple attacks have left hundreds dead and thousands displaced, both internally as well as externally.
