2 killed in apartment fire KCFD believes was set intentionally.

Firefighters saw a fireball going up the side of the apartment building at the Vivion Oaks Apartment in Kansas City, Missouri

Two people are dead after an early morning apartment fire Monday morning.

It happened at the Vivion Oaks apartment complex near N. Oak Trafficway and NE 50th Court around 4:30 Monday morning.

KCFD’s Jason Spreitzer says crews arrived and within minutes they saw a fireball going up the outside of the building. It spread throughout the building, which is a total loss.

One other person suffered minor burns.

Investigators have determined that the Kansas City Police Department’s Bomb and Arson team will need to inspect the fire.

Two people have died in a fire at a three-story apartment building that the Kansas City, Missouri, Fire Department says it believes may have been intentionally set early Monday morning.

Emergency crews were called to 5056 North Oak Trafficway just before 4:30 a.m.

Firefighters reported smoke and fire showing from Vivion Oaks Apartment Complex.

After about 10 minutes, firefighters backed out of the building for safety reasons and began to fight the fire from the outside.

One other person received minor burns in the fire, and did not receive treatment from the hospital.

KCFD says the fire was started outside of the building and rose through the outside walls before affecting all three floors of the building.

KSHB 41 News crews witnessed smoke and fire coming from the roof.

North Oak Trafficway is closed in both directions.

The KCFD bomb and arson unit is investigating the fire.
