Safaricom Ethiopia progresses its national network expansion by switching on the network in five more cities

Safaricom Ethiopia has switched on its network and services in five additional cities as it advances its network coverage across the country.
The network is now switched on in Sebeta, Dessie, Kombolcha, Jimma and Shashemene cities. Customers can purchase SIM cards, choose their preferred numbers, buy airtime, and access dedicated customer support at Safaricom Ethiopia branded shops and souks in these cities.
On the “07” network, customers will gain access to 4G data, voice, and SMS services to connect with Safaricom Ethiopia and Ethio Telecom customers, make international calls worldwide, and purchase affordable phones.
“Following our national launch in Addis Ababa, we have switched on the network in five more cities, bringing our current network footprint across the country to 16 cities. We are excited to bring more customers on board and go Further Ahead Together. We continue to receive extensive support as we work towards serving all of Ethiopia and would like to thank the Government of Ethiopia, the Oromia and Amhara Regional State administrations, the Ethiopian Communications Authority, our shareholders, and partners,” said Anwar Soussa, CEO, Safaricom Ethiopia.
Safaricom SIM Card
To join the “07” network, customers will purchase a SIM Card for 30 Birr at any Safaricom Ethiopia branded shops and souks. Customers can also access these self-service options on the network:
- To recharge Safaricom airtime, dial *705* PIN number#
- To check Safaraicom airtime balance, dial *704#
- To buy and share packages by Safaricom SIM Card, dial *777#
- To reach Safaricom customer care, dial 700 for free
Safaricom Ethiopia’s network has so far switched on in 11 other cities: Dire Dawa, Harar, Haramaya, Bahir Dar, Adama, Bishoftu, Mojo, Debre Birhan, Awoday, Gondar and Addis Ababa.
